Commissions

Each of Jake James’ projects is custom designed, starting with the initial consultation and inspiration for the work, which can range from existing architectural details to a whimsical motif. During the design process, Jake discusses ideas and explores the possibilities of the space involved, then decisions are reached about the technical form the work is intended to highlight. As much information as possible goes into the alchemy that transforms each client’s vision into a workable and unique design in metal.

Depending on the client’s distance from the Jake James’ forge on Vancouver Island, he can either make a site visit or work from drawings and photographs to establish the feel of the location where the metalwork will be installed.
